Boom Standoff Unit

The Boom Standoff Unit is a useful device to prolong the life of your containment boom. It is used to keep containment boom away from the hull of a ship or to hold the boom off a dock area. This has two advantages, firstly it will reduce the amount of wear and abrasion the boom may encounter from barnicles on the dock or ships hull, secondly it increases the catchment area.

These Boom Standoff Units may be used instead of conventional anchoring. These units help to catch oil that may run off the deck by extending the containment area, especially if the wind is blowing the boom against the side of the ship.

The unit comprises of a marine grade aluminum frame with legs fitted with impact and abrasion resistant HDPE floats. Each unit is supplied with boom attachment line.
